Monte Silk is a native of Nebraska. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in economics, from Westmar College in Lemars, Iowa; his teaching degree in history and political science from Iowa State University; a Master of Education degree from Montana State University-Bozeman; and an Education Specialist degree from the University of Wyoming.Mr. Silk started his career in Livingston, Montana, as a teacher of history and government. He then became assistant principal at Park High School. After also serving as an assistant principal at Missoula Sentinel High School, he became middle school principal in Green River, Wyoming. Prior to his appointment to the position as Superintendent of Sidney Public Schools, he served as both assistant superintendent and superintendent in Bullhead City, Arizona. Before leaving Arizona to return to Montana, he served as the superintendent in Snowflake, Arizona. Upon his return to Montana, he served Corvallis Public Schools (outside of Missoula) as superintendent before moving to Billings, Montana.He is married to Bobbi, a teacher of business education. The Silks have five children and three grandchildren.
