Summer Food Program Extension
Sidney Public Schools has been able to procure funds to provide Free meals to every student beginning October 2020 through the remainder of the 20-21 school year only.
This includes both breakfast and lunch, it does not include snack milk, extra milk, a la carte items or extra meals.
Eligible meal charges from October 1st to November 12th are being refunded to all lunch accounts as an adjustment. All eligible breakfast/lunch meal charges to the end of the 20-21 school year will be Free.
Any family may request a refund of their positive lunch balance. Contact your school secretary for assistance with this process. Checks are cut weekly and will be remitted to you as soon as possible. Any remaining balance will remain on your lunch account or you may request it be applied to any other outstanding school related fees.
Please contact your school secretary if you have any questions.

Student Op-Out Deadline
As we are rapidly approaching the end of the 1st quarter, we will no longer be allowing students to choose the online, off-site education platform. We have given everyone the opportunity to choose this platform as they see necessary for their child to this point, but as we start looking at allotting credit and semester grading we won’t be adding any additional students to this program for the remainder of the 1st semester . All requests for this opportunity moving forward will require a detailed note from a doctor explaining a new diagnosis and reason for the request.
Students that are currently enrolled in the online learning platform will continue to receive these services until the end of the 1st semester. We will reevaluate the need for this program as we progress through the semester. More information on eligibility of off-site learning will be given prior to the start of the 2nd semester.
The online school information does not pertain to families wanting to choose a home-school program for their student. Anyone choosing this option needs to contact the school to unenroll their student and contact Gail Staffanson to notify her of the new status of their student.
I appreciate all of the support the community has given all schools throughout this process. We will be holding another Facebook Live session soon to update everyone on what is going on in the schools and what changes have been made to our winter activities.
Have a great week.
